ABOUT

Personal Background

I was raised in Trenton, MI, a small community located along the Detroit River just south of Detroit. Growing up, I played a variety of musical instruments: the piano, the guitar and the drums. This musical background sparked my desire to write and record my own music. Once I started recording my own material, I found myself completely captivated by the process, and since that moment, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else other than musical engineering.

Education

I’ve had the extraordinary pleasure of having been taught by some of the best professionals in the music industry. I attended The Blackbird Academy (TBA) in Nashville, Tennessee, and Central Michigan University (CMU) in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. I graduated in 2013 from CMU, and received a BAA in Broadcasting and Cinematic Arts; with a double minor in Advertising, and Media Design, Production, and Technology. I also earned a Social Media Certificate from CMU in 2014. I graduated from TBA with a Studio Engineering Diploma in 2015. The majority of my time has been spent studying audio, but I also enjoy learning about the different aspects of the music industry.

Internships

While attending CMU, I interned with Greater Media Detroit which supported three major Detroit radio stations. I assisted the Promotional team with events, and the Production Director with recording, editing and placing of radio spots. I spent one summer interning with Sones de México Ensemble, a non-profit music organization in Chicago, Illinois. My responsibilities included recording, editing, mixing and mastering 32 one hour-long radio shows in Logic Pro; managing and organizing files; editing videos in Final Cut Pro; assisting setup for live shows; and consulting and installing equipment upgrades for the home studio.

Professional Experience

After graduating from CMU in 2013, I worked as an Audio Visual Tech for Chase Creative Unlimited in Plymouth, Michigan. I was responsible for upholding the quality control process of all the equipment; installing A/V equipment; picking up and delivering equipment; and, setting up, running and tearing down equipment for several small-to-large scale events.

In late 2014, I moved to Nashville to attend TBA and pursue my career as an audio engineer in the music industry.

Since moving to Nashville, I have worked for/with a variety of organizations including; Blackbird Studios, Tommy’s Tracks, Encore Event Technologies, the Nashville Predators hockey organization, Durrell Sports, Springtree Media, and several other production companies. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with several Nashville based artists both on and off the road in a variety of roles including: guitar tech, monitor engineer, FOH engineer, and production manager. Most recently I’m working as CAAMP’s monitor engineer.

I find great personal satisfaction in helping an artist/client reach their full potential and/or goal. Capturing the true essence of their vision and creating a well-produced project is my ultimate goal each time I walk into a new position.
